About Us Truth Bible Study Prophecy Apologetics Michael Filipek is a Bible researcher, teacher, author, and the founder of LetUsReason, a teaching ministry focused on providing in-depth studies on the topics of truth, Bible study, prophecy, and apologetics. Michael received his Bachelor of Science from Seton Hall University in northern New Jersey, where he was born and raised. Our goal is to provide current believers with the tools and information to have a more "perfect" understanding of God's Word, as He intended it to be understood - not necessarily how religious traditions and institutions have interpreted it. Additionally, it is also our goal to educate non-believers and complete skeptics on the genuine truth of the Bible and its teachings and concepts. Many Christians today have unknowingly become the spiritual victims of erroneous doctrines that have evolved through man-made religious institutions. Although the Reformation was an important time in Christian history, the reality is that the Reformers didn't go as far as they needed to in their attempt to return to the original patterns and teachings of the Apostles. Many errors remain mainstream, including - but not limited to - hermeneutics (methods of Biblical interpretation) and eschatology (the study of end-times prophecy). Our hope and mission is to provide the content and the study tools for you to investigate these things for yourself and arrive at your own conclusions based on the evidence - not the traditions of men. - The Identity Of The Nephilim | Let Us Reason
This is a study that takes an in-depth look into a topic that's widely been either ignored or misunderstood by many who study the Bible. Who were the Nephilim? Did giants once walk the earth? What was their origin? The Identity of the Nephilim | Let Us Reason Description Contents Download In this study, The Identity Of The Nephilim , we will delve into a topic that’s widely been either ignored or misunderstood by many who study the Bible. It’s a topic that requires one to expand their thinking, and presents a profound exercise in sound Bible interpretation. As we will see, the Bible leaves us no room for private interpretation on this matter. The text of scripture is very clear in its declaration of the existence of giants, called Nephilim in Hebrew, the offspring of the illicit sexual union of rebellious angels and human women in the ancient past. We will also examine the opposing mainstream viewpoint that denies this interpretation. How will it hold up against the evidence? What profound implications does the subject of the Nephilim have on our understanding of the foundational background of the Old Testament (subjects such as the purpose for the Flood, the conquest of Canaan, etc.), as well as potential implications for end-time prophecy? - Understanding The Distinction Between Israel And The Church | Let Us Reason
This is a study that undertakes an exploration of a foundational key necessary for accurate Bible interpretation and the proper understanding of eschatology. Understanding the Distinction Between Israel and the Church | Let Us Reason Description Contents Download In this study, Understanding The Distinction Between Israel And The Church , we will explore this often ignored, and yet vitally important cornerstone for accurately interpreting the Bible. When this distinction is not understood, the downstream implications are disastrous, and inevitably lead to mistaken doctrine in key areas of Bible interpretation. Without this understanding, it will be impossible for any student of the Bible to have an accurate perception of God’s purpose and plans for the future, much less for the believer in the present Church Age. This issue of the distinction between Israel and the Church is in many ways closely tied in with the proper understanding of Biblical eschatology, or the prophetic study of the end-times. All of these necessary understandings are ultimately derived from having a sound hermeneutic (or method of Bible interpretation). So, how is the proper understanding of this topic – the distinction between Israel and the Church – a key to unlocking the proper understanding of some of the main themes of the Bible? - Should Christians Support Israel? | Let Us Reason
This study will explore several important questions related to the issue of whether or not Christians should support the nation of Israel. Is God finished with Israel as a nation, or does she still have a future in God's program? What should a Christian's attitude be towards Israel? Should Christians Support Israel? | Let Us Reason Description Contents Download This study, Should Christians Support Israel? will explore several important questions concerning the nation of Israel from a Biblical basis ... questions such as the following. What should the attitude of the Christian be towards Israel as a nation? Should the fact that national Israel is currently in unbelief affect the way we view the covenants and promises God has given to them? Is Israel as a unique chosen nation still relevant in God’s program – and do they still have a future in His plan? How should Christians view the modern State of Israel? Should Christians support the independent sovereignty of the modern State of Israel? These questions have emerged as some of the most polarizing and hotly contested issues in our modern religious and geopolitical world. As we enter into an examination of this subject, we will do our best to exclusively look at what the Bible says about this subject – and not the frequent disinformation routinely spewed by both political and religious institutions. - The Nature Of Time | Let Us Reason
This is a study that undertakes an investigation of the scientific underpinnings of time itself – and how it relates to the theme of Biblical prophecy as being an evidence of the Bible's supernatural origin. The Nature of Time | Let Us Reason Description Contents Download In the quest of every person who sets out to attempt to determine the validity of the Bible, they must at some point confront the subject of Bible prophecy. Bible prophecy is one of the primary evidences Christians point to that demonstrates the supernatural origin of the Bible – or, in other words, it is how we know the Bible comes from God and not man. Most people have some awareness of the most basic meaning of the word “prophecy,” understanding it to have something to do with the foreknowledge of things or events. Obviously, for something to be truly prophetic, it must be foretold prior to the events it anticipates. But most people don’t pause to think about the subject of prophecy deeply enough to recognize that the only reason prophecy is incredible to us is because we are trapped within a peculiar dimension called “time.” Because we are confined within the boundaries of time, we find it incredible that future events could be foretold with incredible accuracy and precision. In this study, The Nature Of Time , we will undertake an investigation of this subject and provide a deeper understanding regarding the scientific underpinnings of our perceptions of time itself – and how these concepts relate to the theme of Biblical prophecy as being an evidence for the supernatural origin of the Bible. - The Road to Emmaus | Let Us Reason
The Road to Emmaus Let Us Reason | LetUsReason.com 13 And, behold, two of them went that same day to a village called Emmaus, which was from Jerusalem about threescore furlongs. 14 And they talked together of all these things which had happened. 15 And it came to pass, that, while they communed together and reasoned, Jesus himself drew near, and went with them. 16 But their eyes were holden that they should not know him. 17 And he said unto them, What manner of communications are these that ye have one to another, as ye walk, and are sad? 18 And the one of them, whose name was Cleopas, answering said unto him, Art thou only a stranger in Jerusalem, and hast not known the things which are come to pass there in these days? 19 And he said unto them, What things? And they said unto him, Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, which was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people: 20 And how the chief priests and our rulers delivered him to be condemned to death, and have crucified him. 21 But we trusted that it had been he which should have redeemed Israel: and beside all this, to day is the third day since these things were done. 22 Yea, and certain women also of our company made us astonished, which were early at the sepulchre; 23 And when they found not his body, they came, saying, that they had also seen a vision of angels, which said that he was alive. 24 And certain of them which were with us went to the sepulchre, and found it even so as the women had said: but him they saw not. 25 Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken: 26 Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory? 27 And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself. 28 And they drew nigh unto the village, whither they went: and he made as though he would have gone further. 29 But they constrained him, saying, Abide with us: for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent. And he went in to tarry with them. 30 And it came to pass, as he sat at meat with them, he took bread, and blessed it, and brake, and gave to them. 31 And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of their sight. 32 And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures? 33 And they rose up the same hour, and returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven gathered together, and them that were with them, 34 Saying, The Lord is risen indeed, and hath appeared to Simon. 35 And they told what things were done in the way, and how he was known of them in breaking of bread. -Luke 24:13-35 (KJV) On the road to Emmaus, Jesus - in His post-resurrection body - appeared incognito to two of His followers, giving them a 7-mile Bible study (the distance between Jerusalem and Emmaus) concerning the prophecies of the Old Testament which were fulfilled in His death and resurrection! Can you imagine the privilege of being one of those two disciples? What would you or I not give for a 7-mile personal Bible study with the resurrected Christ? The disciples’ reaction to Jesus’ lesson was one of deep conviction of the truth of what He was teaching. “Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked?” they ask each other (Verse 32). Their physical eyes were blinded to the identity of Jesus, but their eyes of faith were being opened as Jesus reasoned with them, giving them revelation as He opened their understanding to the Scriptures. Following this account, Jesus appears to His other disciples, removing all doubt that He was alive. Jesus had promised that He would show Himself to those who love Him (John 14:21), and this is exactly what He does on the road to Emmaus. One especially interesting aspect to ponder within this story is how they finally recognize Jesus - in the breaking of the bread. What would have caused them to recognize Him at this time? What else could it have been other than them seeing the nail scars in His hands as He broke and handed them the bread? Later, the doubting disciple Thomas gets the opportunity to thrust his finger into these scars, fulfilling the unique prophecy of Zechariah 13:6. The story of the disciples on the Emmaus Road is important for many reasons. First, it provides an emphasis on the Old Testament prophecies related to Jesus, allowing us to understand the prophetic words of the Lord, "in the volume of the book it is written of me." (Psalm 40:7/Hebrews 10:7). Second, it provides evidence regarding an additional post-resurrection appearance of Jesus. Luke 24 is often seen as a model of the journey that Jesus makes with many of us today, as He opens our eyes, points us to the Word, and reveals Himself along life’s walk as the resurrected Savior and Lord. The importance of being anchored in Biblical truth cannot be overstated for the healthy believer. One of the reasons found for straying from the faith is a poor foundation of knowledge regarding truth. As the passage above implies, this can have harmful consequences. One of the functional objectives of the church is the office of teaching. The purpose of teaching is to ground the Christian in the truth so that he is firmly planted for when the trials of life inevitably present. It is to train, prepare, and equip the believer for what he will face in the world outside. It is to help prepare each believer to be an ambassador for Christ within his own individual sphere of influence. A problematic issue in the church today is the emphasis on the emotional side of the Christian experience, without equal emphasis on deep and effective teaching. This imbalance often results in a fleshly and superficial version of Christianity. When emotions are high and things are good, all is well. But when trouble or doubt arise, these types of Christians are left in turmoil and confusion - often culminating in a turning away from the faith. A Christian whose experience is founded primarily upon feelings and emotion rather than being anchored in understanding and evidence is often no match for the Enemy. On the other hand, a Christian grounded in what he knows is a more difficult target for the Enemy. When trouble or doubt arise, he is more able to stand upon the truth and be unmoved. His roots are planted firmly into the bedrock of the Word. He is unaffected by whirling circumstances and emotion. Instead, he holds to what he knows to help sustain him through uncertain times. We believe one thing sorely lacking in many people's Christian experience today is this important ministry of sound Biblical teaching. The primary objective of Let Us Reason is to help fill that gap by providing the viewer with in-depth studies on Biblical topics. We strongly believe and advocate that each individual believer understand why he believes what he claims to believe. So often, concepts taught in churches are presented in a declarative fashion instead of an explanatory fashion. Often, no (or poor) evidence is given and no (or poor) explanation is attempted. We believe this is hazardous to the spiritual well-being of the believer. It is setting the stage for superficial Christianity. It is setting the stage for faith that is not built upon a firm foundation. But genuine Christianity is the only belief system that challenges both believers and unbelievers to examine the evidence for themselves. The Word of God and its teachings are trustworthy, reliable, relevant, and provable to all those who are willing to put forth the effort to understand. We hope you will find the following topics both useful and enlightening! Back to Home
- Typology Of The Moedim: The Levitical Feasts As Prophetic Macrocodes | Let Us Reason
This is a study that examines the prophetic typology behind the eight levitical feasts that Israel was instructed to observe. We will discover how they act as prophetic "dress-rehearsals" for future divine appointments on God's calendar for mankind. Passover, Unleavened Bread, First Fruits, Pentecost, Trumpets, Atonement, Tabernacles, 8th Day Typology of the Moedim | Let Us Reason Description Contents Download In this study, Typology Of The Moedim: The Levitical Feasts As Prophetic Macrocodes , we examine the eight feasts that the Israelites were commanded by God to celebrate during the Hebrew religious calendar year. The institution of these feasts by God provides incredible meaning and relevance to modern observers in light of the events of the New Testament, which occurred over a thousand years later. We will thoroughly investigate the typological themes and details of each feast, recognizing how they strategically profiled future prophetic events. find that the typology of these feasts demonstrates a profound verification of the integration and prophetic nature of the Bible – evidence pointing to its authorship as being from outside time. How do the Hebrew words moedim and miqra - which the Bible uses to refer to the Jewish feasts - reveal the mystery of how we should view them? What do these words mean? In what way do these feasts picture future events on God's calendar for mankind? Were the spring and summer feasts fulfilled? If so, how precisely? What do the fall or autumn feasts tell us about God's future plans? And what can they teach us about eschatology, or the study of the end-times? - Prophecy - The Various Forms And Modes Of Expression | Let Us Reason
This is a study that begins to delve deeper into the incredible subject of Bible prophecy. Does prophecy simply involve predicting the future in advance, or are there other types of prophecy as well? How does prophecy form our perception of the divine origin of the Bible? Prophecy | Let Us Reason Description Contents Download In our companion study, The Basis Of Our Epistemology , our central proposition was essentially that one of the greatest evidences of the validity of the Bible as being God’s Word comes from its routine use of prophecy. The Bible habitually anticipates history in advance. This quality – unique only to God, who exists outside of the dimension of time altogether – is one of the ways He authenticates His message to us. In light of this understanding, we can accurately state that the Bible is an extra-dimensional message system, in that its true origin (its Author) is from outside of our time dimension. So then, one of the greatest authentications of the Bible is its multitude of prophetic content. Not only does prophecy tell us that God exists, it also tells us that He’s in control of all things. The future is not unknown to Him. Rather, it is God who actually controls the future. In this study, Prophecy: The Various Forms And Modes Of Expression , we will begin to delve deeper into our understanding of this mysterious theme. Does prophecy simply involve predicting the future in advance, or are there other types of prophecy as well? How much prophecy is actually in the Bible? Does the Bible just happen to get a few vague predictions correct, or is its record of accuracy continual and specific? Can we give any examples? Download this free study and find out for yourself! One of the great mysteries of the Bible involves the identity of Nimrod. Despite only being mentioned several times in scripture, he is recognized as one of the greatest villains in biblical history, and even as the first prototype of the future Antichrist. But the major question surrounds his historical identity. Is there any evidence that Nimrod was an actual historical figure, as the Bible claims? If so, who is he? Is there anyone whose exploits reflect what the Bible says about Nimrod? Nimrod - Was He An Actual Historical Figure? | Let Us Reason Description Contents Download One of the great mysteries of the Bible involves the identity of Nimrod, the character mentioned in early Genesis who is often credited with building the Tower of Babel. Despite only being mentioned several times in scripture, he is notoriously recognized as being one of the greatest villains in biblical history, and even as the first prototype of the future Antichrist figure. But the major question surrounds his actual historical identity. Is there any evidence that Nimrod was an actual historical figure, as the Bible claims? If so, who is he? Is there anyone whose exploits actually reflect what the Bible says about Nimrod? Of course, surely a person as notorious as Nimrod would be identifiable in history, if he was truly a real, historical character, as the Bible seems to present him as. There should be some memory of him preserved as an actual historical king, not just a mythical figure. As we’ll demonstrate in this study - Nimrod Was He An Actual Historical Figure? - it in fact does seem that we’re able to positively identify him.
